Senate Bill Would Again Delay Full Commercial Space Regulation

George Nield, FAA associate administrator for commercial space transportation, said he understood industry’s concern that if the learning period expired, the FAA could enact “burdensome” regulations. “However, we have no plans for human spaceflight regulations in the near term."

Despite the FAA’s position that it is time to regulate commercial space flight, a Senate bill would extend the industry’s regulatory grace period to 2020.
