Senate bill cuts other NASA programs to fund SLS and Orion

Engineers developing Orion’s thermal protection system have been improving the spacecraft’s heat shield design and manufacturing process since the vehicle successfully traveled to space for the first time last year.

An appropriations bill approved by a Senate committee April 21 provides a significant increase to NASA’s exploration programs by trimming funds from many other major NASA programs.
