PARIS — An International Launch Services (ILS) Proton rocket March 26 successfully placed the Intelsat 22 telecommunications satellite — equipped with a UHF payload for the Australian and U.S. militaries in addition to C- and Ku-band capacity — into a supersynchronous transfer orbit that ILS said would save on fuel.
