The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has said the follow-on program to its missile tracking Space Tracking and Surveillance System (above) is likely to be one part for a multi-mission Defense Department satellite.

The two Space Tracking and Surveillance System satellites were taken out of service on March 8. They were launched in 2009 on a United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket.
