Comtech said buying Gilat would have filled a gap it had in certain types of satellite communications infrastructure, and broaden the company's presence in aviation connectivity.

Satellite communications equipment maker Comtech Telecommunications said Jan. 25 it has rejected a $790 million offer to take over the company.
