FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said at the Sept. 29 commission meeting that the new five-year rule for deorbiting LEO satellites "will mean more accountability and less risk of collision."

The FCC adopted a new rule Sept. 29 that will shorten the time for satellite operators to deorbit low Earth orbit satellites from 25 to 5 years.
